Litigation Support: Plaintiff Viewer:

Graphical displays of alleged plaintiff risks and exposures can be useful to defense attorneys, defense experts, judges, and jurors.

Sielken & Associates have developed computer software tools based around a "Plaintiff Viewer" to make such graphical displays readily available.  Furthermore, the Plaintiff Viewer is interactive; so that, the person doing the viewing can easily make inquiries and order values from largest to smallest or vice versa.

If the exposures and risks involve more than one chemical or exposure pathways/routes, then the proportional contributions from the different chemicals and/or pathways/routes can be displayed.  This frequently helps answer questions such as who has the greatest risk and why; which chemicals have the greatest risks; and which sources, pathways, or routes are associated with the greatest risks.   Such information often helps attorneys and experts prioritize their efforts.

Often exposure and risk characterizations vary with time or age.  Plots over time or age can help provide perspective and understanding of the temporal aspects of exposure and risk characterizations.

If exposures and risks are characterized by probability distributions, then it is useful to be able to visualize those distributions.  It is also useful to know the percentiles (e.g, 25-th, 50-th, 75-th, 90-th, 95-th percentiles) of exposure and risk distributions instead of just the maximum (worst-case) values.
